Weekly Price Recap: 9/29-10/5

Griddy members had an above average week last week. Griddy members paid 13.2/kWh vs. the Texas
average of 11.6c/kWh.

We had 10 price spikes spread out over several days this week. These were caused primarily by a combination of two factors: higher than expected demand and limited supply. Since late September/early October is normally a time of mild weather, many generators schedule their routine maintenance then. That limits the amount of generation available to the grid. When weather is hotter than normal, it results in more air conditioning use and higher demand. When demand ramps up without an abundance of supply to match, it results in price spikes.
